  • Anna Maria Kenoyer was born about 1767 in York County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Leonard and Barbara Kenoyer.

In an undated listing of members of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation of Jacobs church, Anna Mar. Kneier, single, was listed. She attended with both Leonard Kneier and Leonard Knoyer, as well as, Ulrich Kneier and Matthew Naass and his four daughters.

Her father died in 1782 when Mary was 15 and Captain John Wampler was made her legal guardian.

Some researchers believe she married Jacob Durst of Somerset County, Pennsylvania. However, it was her niece, Mary Knoyer, daughter of her brother, Frederick Kenoyer.

York County is in south central Pennsylvania and was created on August 19, 1749 from part of Lancaster County.
